Medical achievement in the NICU
Agial Neonate Intensive Care Unit (NICU) received one of the hardest cases with birth defect for a newborn baby, after the childbirth done successfully under supervision of Dr.Sherif Omar – gynecology specialist in Agial hospital, the child’s condition was as follows:
Weight: 2.3Kg, Age: 35 weeks, with a defect of intestinal protrusion from the abdominal cavity.
Immediately Dr. Saber Waheeb was informed -pediatric surgeon consultant- To do urgent surgery for the child and begin the first part of therapeutic trip.
With the assistance of the distinguished medical and nursing team in the hospital the intestine temperature was perfectly maintained and prevent any complications or gangrene.
After the operation runs successfully, Dr.Bahaa Hammad –Pediatric professor- take the second part of the treatment which is return of the child’s body functions to work normally
72 hours after feeding the child through intravenous fluids and solutions, the child started receiving small amounts of feedings, and by follow-up, it was confirmed that the intestine was functioning normally.
The improvement continue gradually for the child and after 18 days in NICU, the baby received the first full breastfeeding from the mother and within two days of doctors’ following up to check on him after the natural breastfeeding there were no complications occurred after conducting comprehensive medical examinations. The health of the child was confirmed as stable, the child came out with his mother.
